Today’s Sandwich – Chicken, Mozzarella & Coriander on Toast

Chicken Mozzarella and Coriander on Toasted English Muffins. Not so happy with this one. The light is quite hard, the gold fill from front camera left is ok. But the exposure for the cheese: taken with my iPhone 5, appear to have fallen into white without detail despite what the histogram in Lightroom indicates.

Christmas Dinner With All the Trimmings

Beijing Duck is an awesome way to eat roast duck and The colours are incredibly appetizing. I never tire of this dish and love spending the time making it as well as shooting it. If you’d like to explore my recipe for this dish, then check out my, “Chinese-style Roasted Duck” on The Bait Layer blog. Here’s a sneak preview…

Today’s Sandwich – Open-faced Poached Egg Baguette

Something a little different today. I decided to make myself an open face sandwich with a poached egg, black pepper and fresh Basil. Very yummy indeed. Poached eggs are probably my most favorite way of eating eggs.

Today’s Sandwich – Holstein Elbköse

I thought 5 might start a, sorta-kinda-daily series of posts based around my lunch. Mostly this will be sandwiches but with the occasional ‘other food item’ featured. Simple idea. Take a sandwich, set up a quick shot, capture a few images and then share the result. so, here’s a start:

Holstein Elbköse – Nur Hier Bäckerie, Poppenbüttel. http://www.nur-hier.de/

Setup: wooden board, serviette, paper bag, window side lighting + kitchen light to help slightly fill in the shadows.

Wholemeal Mini Pie

Whole wheat flour, braised beef & mushroom, mini pie with tomato sauce.

The flour was made from whole wheat, and stone ground prior to making into piebase. The braised beef and mushroom filling was based on a traditional Hamburg recipe using beef shank; onions; champignon, stienpliz and pfefferlinger mushrooms.

The shot was set up on a wooden board with window backlighting, and fill from camera right. Props include, Kafir sideplate,  dried French Lavender, and a black coffe cup.
